Going to university is an exciting time for anyone. It is a brand new chapter in your life and one that you will never forget. You will make friends for life and there will be lots of opportunities to develop yourself in different ways and participate in many new and exciting things.

However, we realise that moving away from home for the first time can be a big change and we are here to support you with challenges you may face.

The Advice Service can help you with a wide range of issues which may affect you during your time at University. In particular the following issues may be most relevant to you as a new student:

The Advice Service is made up of experienced professional advisers offering a confidential, impartial service to all students at the University of Lincoln.

The Advice Service is made up of three teams, the Student Funding Team, the International Advice Team and the Specialist Advice Team.

The Student Funding Team provides specialist advice on all areas of funding including Student Finance provided by the Student Loans Company, NHS Bursaries, Blackburn Bursary, University of Lincoln Scholarship, US/Canadian Funding, etc.  They also administer various Hardship and Emergency Funds on behalf of the University.

The International Advice Team provides specialist student related immigration advice such as Tier 4 visa, Schengen visas, working, dependants and University issues in relation to your visa. The International Advice Team are the only people who can legally give you Immigration Advice at the University of Lincoln.

The Specialist Advice Team advice students about their rights and responsibilities, helping our clients fully understand the whole situation and how it affects them individually, enabling them to consider all the options available and make informed decisions. Our advice covers a wide range of area including: legal issues, money, debt, housing, university issues, welfare benefits, employment and much more.

 

Drop-in – Monday-Friday – 12:00 noon – 2:00pm – Student Support Centre (during September 2015 the drop-in will be extended and the times will be advertised here soon).

The Advice Service is based in the Student Support Centre which is located in the Minerva Building.
